The frontal plane (side to side movements) is so often overlooked in kettlebell training and it’s a functional part of human movement. When we don’t move in this plane, we lose mobility, strength, and tissue integrity and leave ourselves subject to injury.
Messier squats are a great exercise to train safely in the frontal place and work the hips, adductors, and keep them young. NHL hockey legend Mark Messier thought so highly of this movement that he thinks it prolonged his career and kept his hips, which so often go south in hockey players, healthy.
